uHoo attends the 8th edition of the World Cities Summit (WCS), at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from July 31 to August 3, 2022.

With the theme “Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Emerging Stronger”, WCS creates a venue for government leaders, innovators, and experts in development from across the world to share ideas, insights, and technologies to make cities smarter, more liveable and sustainable. The event focuses on how cities can become more resilient and more capable of withstanding future shocks presented by unpredictable changes such as climate crisis and pandemics. The summit was previously held virtually in 2021, due to the restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic.

Jointly organized by Singapore’s Centre for Liveable Cities and the Urban Redevelopment Authority, the WCS comprises of the main conference and other key events including the WCS Mayors Forum, WCS Young Leaders Symposium, the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize Lecture & Forum, the Expo and site visits.

uHoo, a company that develops indoor environmental monitoring and sustainability-focused technologies proudly participates in the summit, represented by the company’s Global Sales Director, Excell Chua. uHoo highlights its initiatives and solutions aimed to educate everyone on the importance of monitoring indoor environmental quality in the built environment, to enhance public health, to optimize occupant experience, and to make cities and communities smarter and more sustainable.

uHoo empowers businesses and built environments to control the air they breathe by providing indoor environmental monitoring and management products that continuously track the presence of various factors affecting the air including carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, temperature, humidity, air pressure, particulate matter, and more. By having accurate indoor air quality data, business leaders and building managers are able to identify the sources of poor air quality in buildings, devise effective strategies to mitigate it, and reap the benefits of better health and a productive business.

uHoo’s solutions also present real-time data on the risks of viruses dwelling in built environments through the uHoo Virus Index. This technology uses a 10-point scoring system that is divided into four categories: Good (1 to 3), Mild (4 to 6), Bad (7 to 8), and Severe (9 to 10).

Data from uHoo can also be used to adjust HVAC systems and ventilation in built environments. These adjustments help optimize energy use and reduce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change.

As the world battles several health, economic, and environmental challenges, taking part in prestigious congregations such as the World Cities Summit enables companies like uHoo to share innovations and knowledge that will help everyone in making cities more livable and push countries worldwide towards a better future. The World Cities Summit started in 2008 and it has so far captivated the participation of more than 250 cities around the globe.

Apart from the key events stated above, the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Healthy Building Consortium (HBC) comprising six consortium members namely ARID Indoor Air Solutions Pte Ltd, gush, GreenA Consultants, IFSC Pte Ltd, Smarten Spaces and uHoo also took hold at the event. The said MoU aims to create a partnership that focuses on the health and safety of occupants beyond a building’s sustainability and environmental impact.
