At uHoo, we are committed to performing our business responsibly, focused on preserving the natural environment, and are dedicated to securing a healthier future for the communities and the entire society where we live, work, and operate.
Our company is positioned to make an incredible amount of change and bring positive difference. As such, we are delighted to express our support for the Low Formaldehyde Commitment Statement by the Alliance for Action on Sustainable Spaces (AfA). This statement, launched on April 11, 2022, which is in support of the Singapore Green Plan 2030, aims to raise public awareness, boost supply, and encourage the adoption of low-emitting formaldehyde solutions for indoor environments among businesses and other organizations.
Formaldehyde is a colorless, strong-smelling, and flammable chemical that is commonly used in building materials and in manufacturing indoor products. Formaldehyde is found in glues and adhesives, sealants, latex paints, air fresheners, wood furniture, and combustion processes such as smoking, heating, and cooking.
Formaldehyde is also produced naturally in the environment. It is released in small amounts by most living organisms as part of the normal metabolic processes.
Formaldehyde levels exceeding 0.1 ppm may cause some individuals to experience adverse health issues such as burning sensations in the eyes, nose, and throat, coughing, nausea and skin irritation. More serious health effects include lung and nasopharyngeal cancer.
Promoting safer formaldehyde levels using reliable IAQ technology
uHoo, a tech company known for developing indoor environmental quality technology joins the move towards lower formaldehyde levels with uHoo Aura, the most comprehensive indoor air quality device that provides continuous and real-time indications of various gasses and chemicals that are present indoors, including formaldehyde.
As the old saying goes, knowledge is power. With the uHoo Aura providing the right knowledge about the presence of formaldehyde, customers will become aware and will be able to create action plans to limit their exposure to this gas’ dangerous levels in the air. Workspaces and built environments with lower to no formaldehyde and other air contaminants have better indoor environmental conditions, thereby minimizing the risks of health problems linked to it.
The health impacts of formaldehyde and other air pollutants translate to reduced productivity and work performance among building occupants. Exposure to indoor air pollution, formaldehyde included, results in inhabitants taking more frequent sick leaves or continuing to work at a reduced pace and efficiency. Having a poor performing work environment affects the business’ quality of deliverables, thus detaining business growth.
By delivering innovative sustainable solutions that help lower formaldehyde emissions indoors, we can lead the businesses, people and the entire society towards a healthier and greener economy. For the list of other organizations onboard the Commitment Statement, click here.
