In our effort to be much kinder to our planet, we need to be conscious consumers and be more mindful of our waste when we’re outdoors. One simple way to do this is to carry eco-friendly items in our daily bags so that we can constantly reduce our environmental impact and hopefully inspire others to do the same!
Here’s a list of essentials to consider packing into your bag right now before leaving the house:
Reusable bags
Tote bags, net bags, and small pouches can be useful when you suddenly need to buy something at a store and don’t want them packed in plastic or paper bags. Even if you have no intention of shopping when you’re out and about, you’ll just never know when you’ll find something that catches your fancy! So keep some foldable, lightweight tote bags in your day bag at all times.
Reusable water bottle and coffee cup
A reusable water bottle and/or coffee cup are definite must-haves especially when you tend to buy coffee or drinks all the time! Start making it a habit to ask the barista to prepare your drink in a reusable cup so you can lessen waste.
Reusable utensils
Plastic cutlery is among the biggest contributors to pollution. Refuse single-use when eating outside and bring your own utensils!
Food containers
Jumping off from the last point, you should also refuse disposable food boxes whenever possible. If you’re intent on ordering takeout or packing your leftovers to store at home, it’s much better for the environment to bring and use your own food containers.
Reusable straw
Love buying cold drinks when you’re out of the house? Save the environment and minimize straw waste by bringing your own reusable straw! Bothered by the length? You can find collapsing straws that are much easier to carry.
By having these eco-friendly items onhand and ready in your bag, you can contribute to a healthier planet. Remember, small changes can add up to make a significant difference.
