What is the Pomodoro Method? 

Developed by entrepreneur Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s, the Pomodoro Method is a routine wherein you break your work into specifically timed intervals. Named after his tomato-shaped kitchen timer that Cirillo had used during his university days, the Pomodoro Method instructs you to focus on work for 25 minutes and then take a strict 5-minute break before spending the next 25 minutes doing focus work once again. A longer break, usually 15 to 30 minutes, is then taken after four work intervals.

This method was created to train people to focus on their tasks better by allowing them to envision the length of time they need to work and then enforcing frequent restorative breaks, preventing both procrastination and burnout!

Here’s how to do it yourself:

🍅 Set your timer to 25 minutes.

🍅 Work on one specific task.

🍅 Take a short break of 5 minutes when the timer runs out.

🍅 Repeat the process. After 4 sets of focus work, take a longer break of 15-30 minutes.
